air guitar (rawk!!!) day 268 by TeeRish

"Music's the only thing that makes sense anymore, man," by pocketheart

Love in the air was Saturday night at the Bluebird Theater in Denver, along with more than a few volts of static electricity. Of course, because it was the eve of St. Valentine's Day, the official name of the holiday with a patron not named Cupid. Is there a better way for couples to their feelings for each other than through an examination Colfax Avenue nightclub expressed bringen.Nur object of desire of all was on stage, a vision of beauty in a slinky black mini dress with ruffles at the shoulders, matching leggings and soft, dark curls frame the face of innocence that could only be compared to Snow White. The ruby red lips of a woman with a Disney fix sealed the deal for that dream every day, hot-blooded male - or female, for that matter - could go home to mom bringen.Nur Disney's childhood sweetheart of the 1930s could never Mamet spout, praise leader Sleater-Kinney, appreciate Wizard of Oz, or insanity to make an electric guitar roar like a Harley. So what's not to love? "I love you, Annie," shouted a voice, whose despair is exceeded only by its predictability. But repeat offenders can not resist. It starts on the main floor and spreads to the rafters in a comfortable place (capacity 500), where admirers are forced to stand near the rear balcony of the bar in compact Bluebird too. And even before the first chord is struck. The crowd ist.Dann Annie Clark, perhaps better known as St. Vincent known in the art-rock world, as just goes to work, opening with "The Strangers". This dazzling piece of beauty and the beast unleashed is just one example of what was coming out of a songbook filled with fascination and fantasy. Part Creepshow part tale "The Strangers" paint lures listeners to "Paint the black hole blacker blacker the black hole," before Clark receives the full attention of the audience with a barrage of fuzz-bombs. Under 80 years after that terrible power punk trio from Minnesota, this is a Husker Du-it-yourself financially independent woman. Bring 'You guys are always ways. Thank you for bringing it again, "says Clark, so that these trips to Denver audiences turn up awesome feeling as if something very special that will see nowhere else to treat. The fact that St. Vincent makes 18 more stations in February, in the cities of Lawrence, Kansas to Columbus, Ohio, comes to little ihnen.Clark, who is touring in support of their critically acclaimed second album, Cast (4AD Records) , learned finger-style guitar from Uncle Tuck Andress (of Tuck & Patti Jazz fame), with the previously conducted Polyphonic Spree and Sufjan Stevens, took the solo anchor in the guise of St. Vincent, her great-grandmother's middle name. Was the middle child in a family of nine children, it's easy as a leaner, taller (and definitely younger) sister of actress Alyssa Milano.Clark, 27, takes a theatrical approach in concert, playing the compilation of a number of good relations pieces that are as performance art - without the claim. While not as flashy as Kate Bush, or as grandiose as A The Decemberists' Short Fazed Hovel tour, she is just as adventurous, resourceful and effective. Clark has said she draws comparisons to a pair of King David - Bowie and Byrne - on Bush trotzdem.Leiter rattles or body trembled, Clark often seems in a trance-like state with a guitar in hand, whether it's a Vintage Harmony Bobcat or a newer Fender Telecaster. These are the opportunities for weapons of mass destruction, but it is usually a hand out the punishment to achieve the proper degree of distortion. There are even down-on-the-floor theatrics Hendrix on "Black Rainbow", also with green laser sparks, puffs of smoke and a soaring climax. Only the flames fehlten.Ihre supporting players - multi-instrumentalist Evan Smith, right (woodwinds, keyboards), Daniel Hart (violin and guitar), William Flynn (bass clarinet) and Anthony LaMarca (drums, drum sampler) - Supply much heat, though. They help sweeping orchestral arrangements are charged as phonetically Clark rhythms, avant-garde texts and seraphic singen.Aber there is no doubt who is in charge here. Other than an ethereal number ( "The Bed"), where she moves on the stage of the keyboard to the left, before and Clark in the middle, surrounded by her four male Musikern.Umzug back into the starting position for a solo interpretation of "Jackson Browne's These Days," which has been covered by artists from Nico to Gregg Allman to Fountains of Wayne, Clark touches seems almost embarrassed by the splashes of wild applause. "You can not cheer too loudly, because I have Catholic guilt , I thought, I'm not worthy, and I will shrink back stage, "she offers as continue cheering and screaming for" Dreamboat Annie. "Is it too open?" she asks about their Revelation, prior to thank opening act Wildbirds & Peace Drums, a pair of percussion, heavy, "came all the way from Sweden to your brain in the melt," says Clark.Das opens the doors to the fans how much they took lengths to express their admiration / devotion to show from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles. "Thank you, I I like you for your plane fare or something to pay," Clark feel timid remarks before surmising: "This type has become a rally. A rally of awesome. "Clark and Co. kept the rally going through cranks nine of 11 songs she wrote for the actor. Complete the set with "Mark" and "The Party", the latter is a 7-minute trip to Dreamland ends peacefully with an anthemic chorus. (See a copy of the handwritten set list on the left.) Alone on the stage again for the addition, Clark offers one jazzy rendition of "Paris Is Burning" from her debut album, Marry Me, before the group closes for more holiday-appropriate "Your lips are red." A screaming, screeching guitars under glowing lights includes 75 minutes irresistible gaiety, that all its bloody glory, power and combined by the amount which is undoubtedly correct in Stimmung.Passenderweise Clark on the receiving end the day happy valentine's wishes before the encore. "Oh, of course, oh my God, Happy Valentine's everyone," she says, seemingly surprised that they need a reminder. "This is the night to celebrate, is not it?" Meet The New Boss Guitar Hero, Not The Old Guitar Hero BossVerabschieden yourself of the old Guitar Hero Chief Executive Officer Dan Rosensweig. Probably the above shows not-doing-so-gut.Wie the LA Times in informative figures, sold Guitar Hero 5 less than one million in the United States last year compared to its predecessor, Guitar Hero: World Tour 3.4 million . There are similarly unimpressive numbers for DJ Hero Hero Band and the brand most recent attempt Guitar Hero: Van Halen, the NPD Group estimates only 64,000 have been sold Exemplaren.Wir expectations to less Guitar Hero expected in 2010, per ex-CEO Rosensweig, but we now expect that leaves even less than zuvor.Activision 's Guitar Hero-chief after less than a year [LA Times] Send an email to Michael McWhertor, the author of this message to Nick mike@kotaku.com.Ist Jonas is still with the aim of his action goal of the Jonas Brothers' teen 'n' between audience … or their parents? That is the question that you might be after hearing the latest JoBro's first solo album, "Who am I to ask. ( "Solo" may or may not need an asterisk beside it, there goes the payroll for this album and tour to a group name, Nick Jonas & the administration.) You can see the famous blues lyric "People do not know remembering understand but the small girl. "Nick is such a relapse aware vein, you might want to reverse that famous equation again, because there the music boomers account-friendliness: The little girls may not know, but her middle-aged aunts and uncles understand what werden.Und It is understood: Nick Jonas invents himself in the advanced age of seventeen and a half years old when the soul of man. The Jonas has always been a bit retro to contemporary teen idols, mind you, but that is a little different, more retro brand of pop revival. The best album of the Brother Group, which had 2008 A Little Bit Longer, they perfected the frantic power-pop style of the late '70s and early '80s, and seemed on the verge of a serious Cheap Trick for the modern youth. But they more or less abandoned that style on her last album, and it was not clear what was Nick, the creative head of the trio, going for. It is now clear: He wants to return to a new wave of late 70s to early years of the 70s pop-R & B. What a difference a few years when you have time to travel to the recent (but even before birth were) past, is not it? Jonas has repeatedly stated that he was a huge Elvis Costello fan, and he has a joint Q & A with Costello in Rolling Stone a few years. And when it came to explaining the "…& the Administation "name he chose for his backup band, he refers to his fondness for Elvis Costello & The Attractions. So I had some hope he might be tempted to make this project a trick on this page to make a teenager My Disney Radio-Ready Aim Is True. But taste in Ampersand group name aside, it turns out that Who am I could not rely on a less Costelloian on his instincts. He has another man in spectacles, which he hooked up with before: Stevie.Ja, Nick is young, determined to sound his wonder years like his Wonder Jahr.Nicht that he just aping a guy or just a style, But he wants the time to awaken, is unmistakable. The album starts with "Rose Garden", the story of a girl who grew up in difficult circumstances, the toughness of designated … Wah-wah guitar! By the third track, "Olive & arrow," it is clear that we are in for heaping doses of Wurlitzer organ, and little or no synthesizers. He actually introduced to wait until track 8, "State of Emergency", which sounds much like a Stevie-esque clavinet, though, the former "Last Time Around," which is based around funk guitar instead of keyboards, a very Wonder - vocal beat hook. "In the End has" behaved very, bluesy ballad, Nick said: "Take it," Tommy as a keyboard player Tommy Barbarella, and you will not be surprised to know that the piano solo that follows , is (to these ears) all about the Fender Rhodes. Some of the players are graduates of the old bands princes, it is surprising that Jonas is not too much trouble to cop out of the man from Minneapolis - instrumental, ie. Vocally, his falsetto leaps and occasional yowlings will be deeply felt directly from the Purple Handbuch.Wie, all that? Jonas emotionally cheated on about his hundredth song about some young femme fatale, he either has an active love life is full of opportunists, or is he just milking still a very bad third-class experience. It does not all sound like schoolboys guess, but: When he sings "I want someone to love me for who I am," the title track and first single, it seems pretty clear that he for which he not been loved at some point or another, and the feelings of the concerned deceased "Vesper's Goodbye," though a little drama queen-ish, convince me that everything he is, loans to the older is this album is not someone else's broken heart. The closing number "Stronger (Back On The Ground)," moves over the tropics in the romantic torture possible Gebiet.Und gospel musical? I always hated to grade by age curve, because enough young people, the good work, that "pretty good for a teenager" cut it anymore. (And I've said that A Little Bit Longer was just fine against the work of a lot more veteran power-pop bands.) But Jonas is ready to jump in style here, I am inclined to cut him a bit of a break here, if the results only moderately and not overwhelmingly successful. If a 30 - or 45-year-old had made this record, there are things that we would be pleased with them and what we would look at how corny. But a 17-year-old? Come on.Wir have come from as a veteran Jonas imagine, because the Jonas four studio albums before it. But that should not be in the way of some surprise that a man has in this age still get these instincts, it is much less follow them - perhaps to his own economic disadvantage, as these sounds can feel a little strange to the " Party of the USA "-trained ear. Natural talent aside, Jonas earns a positive note, that smart enough to rip off the past, and also intelligent enough to be in fine enough opportunities to influence the notes and not quite as blatant as I have made them sound tun.Die danger to young Mr. Jonas is that as seriously as he takes a career he's Carousel, which lead him to indulge himself is a multi-hyphenation at the expense of being an artist. He is at expressions in this album in a two-week break last year - that makes you want to grade it higher still spoken on the curve, but it also makes you wonder what he would have done if he had more time to the project could be given. He put the band on the back of album sleeves to sell it as a real group project, but by his own admission only met, as they went into the studio. Something may have to be sacrificed, if he really wants to emulate his musical heroes. Said (That, I am reluctant to suggest that he calls out his acting career, as Jonas, the Disney Channel sitcom is actually a pretty funny series. And miraculously, they even figured out what to do with non-Nick's smiling, earnest persona, as compared to his brothers comedy "goofiness … which was, to have fun and play from the very soulful to-this-for - World quality.) It's always tempting to compare the teen idols of today with those of the past, especially among those who believe they are already young stars a favor by giving indicates that Svengali-driven fluff ever are among us. And certainly there are a lot of great pop records, the Disney-derived singers like Miley, Demi and Selena who do not have a strong artistic temperament, and are only as good as its employees who are often really very good and sometimes not what so.Aber we have now that we are not in the era of Bobby Sherman a couple of teen authors, in the form of Nick Jonas and Taylor Swift. (Taylor concluded only from this class by 20, but it is counted in the last four years.) These two will be around the music scene in some capacity for the next few decades, whether you like it or not. I suggest that older music listeners opt for the former, because the combination of DIY career independence and reliance on strong musical tradition bodes well for the future, at a time when there are many encouraging signs. Make a young man or a woman alone is not the future of music, but listen to who I am, I am encouraged to believe again that the children are okay after all.

Acoustic Guitar by balo_erets

Since, as I am one of the best guitarists in Seattle (and a bit selfish), I decided to make the best guitarists of all time - the Gibson Les Paul. I've always loved these guitars - the look and sound - but it was the price for this beautiful guitar, which always kept me from buying. There are many models of the Les Paul to choose, and most are in the $ 1500 and up price range. Even used, the guitars are still very high prices, but I found that the Les Paul Studio model is basically a real Les Paul with a few cosmetic differences and a lower price ($ 1100 brand new). I bought my first guitar, Les Paul Studio uses local music store for $ 750 … I knew that I find a hard time to have a less everywhere, and I grabbed it. Mine is wine red with gold hardware - looking very, very nice and cool. The main difference between the studio and the more expensive models is that it is not the white trim on the sides of the guitar body and neck, and the Gibson logo on the headstock is a bit different. Otherwise it is the same body wood, pickups and like the other models. I noticed that on the current versions of the new studio LP, the mood buttons are made of plastic (my '87 model, all the gold chrome metal). I loved this guitar so much that I later a brand new white Les Paul Studio bought with gold hardware, very sexy, very warm sounding guitar, playing in my signature axe.I hard-rock style guitar through a Marshall 100 watt Halfstack has and I must say that the Les Paul guitar is the best for this kind of music. You've probably heard it before, but the Les Paul through a Marshall tube amp is simply the sound of Rock! Power chords have never sounded so good! I can play my LP studio without distortion field and get great rockin 'riffs and leads. And yes, that is easy to get these guitars one thing, awesome. And of course, is the Les Paul guitar at the coolest looking guitar, PERIOD! Some people complain that Les Pauls are too heavy, and yes, my studio has a heavy slab of wood, but the seriousness is part of what gives the Les Paul its great sound. I played guitar easier, and have found that the lighter the wood, the harder it is to get good power chord heavy rock without using a distortion pedal. I save all my other guitars duty now be regulated, that I've got my Les Paul. Besides being beautiful, and with a big rock sound that's my Les Paul Studio in line, is very easy to play, and I can play with low action and no fret buzz. This is a quality guitar - it's not a piece of carp, fall apart on you, but of course it's a Gibson and Gibson has the best reputation for producing quality instruments. The only weakness is the head plate can easily shatter or break when the guitar is like - I strongly recommend, not with strap locks with this guitar (my strap locks have slipped twice
